P.S. Thank you to Gaby's sister and Corys Aunt for taking students on the field trip to ASU today. The students heard an interesting discussion on the Middle East Process and where able to see Dr. Williams Bio Geochemistry lab.

Announcements for 2/25./05

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope every one has a great weekend.

Great News. This morning, we advised the students of our intention to move to a bigger and better location for the 2005/06 school year at 3320 South Price Road (in the Michaels Shopping Center). We mailed letters out to all the families yesterday and you should receive them by today or tomorrow. The new site is closer to MCC and EVIT, is bigger, and is exclusively ours. It is only located about five minutes away from our current location. The City of Tempe will meet on March 22 to approve our use permit. We are very excited about this move and were extremely ecstatic about the students positive response when they heard the news. For those families that feel the move may be too far for them, transportation assistance may be available for them. We do not want to lose any one and want every one to be part of our new beginning.

The First Semester Honor Roll Students received a $10 gift certificate to Harkins Movie Theater. Great job students.

The new web site is up at www.grandcanonprep.com. Thank you to Mrs. Houston for all the hard work she put into making it.

Permission Slips were handed out to the following students who expressed an interest and maturity in attending the Middle East Peace Seminar at ASU on Monday. The students are: Nichole, Josh, Nathan, Cory, Al, Kiya, Gaby, Joseph, Angela, Howard, Lizzie, Danya, and Chamarie.. We hope they could all attend because this is a great opportunity to be exposed to the world of public affairs.

congratulations to Robert Houston for receiving a $10,000 scholarship to Northern Arizona University. This the Deans Scholarship. Great Job Robbie.

Remember we will be taking select students to ASU on Monday for Middle East Progress Seminar.

Hope every one will have a great holiday weekend. Presidents Day is Monday and school will resume on Tuesday.

Science Classes have to work on their special projects

Algebra 1 has page 229 1-14

World History classes have presentations on Wednesday

English classes have to finish essay outlines and newspaper projects

WRITING AND READING AIMS TESTS WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK FROM 9:00 TO 11:00. The students who will be involved in one or both of these tests are: Robbie Houston, James Atherton, Josh VanEnwyck, Nathan Hatch, Amanda Alcala, Alfred Gable, Larissa Matthews, Cory Milford, and Nichole VanEnwyck. One Hundred Percent Attendance is required.

It is that wonderful time of year. Of course I am talking about tax season. Now Grand Canyon is still accepting tax credit checks for up to $200(single) or $250 (married couples. Please take advantage of this great opportunity to help out your child's school.

Announcements for 2/3/05

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope every one is well.

There is a calendar adjustment for February. Instead of a half day on 2/18, we will have half days on 2/11 and 2/14. February 18 will be a full day. The reason is because we will be engaged in faculty and site based meetings. If there are any questions, please advise.

PROGRESS REPORTS WILL BE OUT BY TUESDAY NEXT WEEK.

U.S. History/Government: Essays on Social Security (five paragraph) and Promoting Democracy (four paragraph) around the world are due

Law: Legal Teams have a little miscellaneous work to clear up. All students have four paragraph essay on lawyers and their clients due.

Teacher Biographies

We are very proud to present to our students and their families the Grand Canyon Teaching Staff for the 2007/08 school year.

Todd Burke: An Educational Consultant in his second year with us, Mr. Burke is and experienced principal and secondary/ post secondary instructor. He helps oversee our accredition and professional development. He is in his second year with us.
Benjamin Broyles: A first year Music instructor at Grand Canyon Prep, Mr. Broyles has extensive teaching experience through La Musique Academy in Mesa Arizona as a private instructor for the last three years. He is currently earning his teaching certificate in Music Education.
Kevin Crawford: A Certified instructor, Mr. Crawford earned a Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University in History and Business Administration. A former stock broker, Mr. Crawford has had two years of teaching experience prior to joining Grand Canyon Prep as a Social Studies teacher..
David Gordon: The founder of the school, Mr. Gordon has over eleven years teaching experience in the areas of English and History. He also has ten years experience as an Administrator and Principal. Mr. Gordon has two Bachelor of Arts Degrees and is a Certified Secondary Teacher. He is a published writer and has participated in the revision of the National History Standards. He is currently participating in the revision of the Arizona Social Studies Standards.
David Grago: Mr. Grago is an experienced Japanese Teacher who will rejoin us for 2007/08 school year. Mr. Grago has had experience teaching Japanese at Arizona State University. He has also been a Japanese Interpreter for Continental Airlines and an instructor for Nissan. He has Bachelors in Japanese from the University of Hawaii and a Masters from National University.
Steve Harmon: A certified math, science, computer science, and history teacher, Mr. Harmon has a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Arizona State University. He has over eleven years of teaching experience. Mr. Harmon has worked nine years at Grand Canyon Prep.
Jelena Eros: An award winning artist whose paintings decorate her classroom, Ms. Eros has entered her artworks in competitions around the world. Holding a degree in Art from the Hungarian University of Applied Art, Ms. Eros has extensive teaching experience as she also teaches at the Young Rembrandts Private Arts School. She teaches Art Portfolio and Art Animation at Grand Canyon Prep.
Andrea Domanik: Holder of two Masters Degrees in Biology and Secondary Education, Ms. Domanik teaches Science at Grand Canyon Prep. Her experience also includes Managing the Superfund at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and as a Coordinator for Desert Botanical Garden.
Carol Payant: Ms. Payant will be working her sixth year at Grand Canyon Prep. A certified special education teacher with twenty years experience, Ms. Payant has a Masters in Education. Ms. Payant also helps Grand Canyon Prep with service learning and career pathways.
Yolanda Ratliff: In her fifth year with us, Mrs. Ratliff will be teaching First and Second Year Spanish for us during the 2006/07 school year. She has Degrees in Communications and the Humanities from Grand Canyon University. She has taught Spanish since 1969. Among her teaching assignments have been Berlitz, the City of Phoenix and News School for the Arts.
Marsha Fagan” A certified Martial Arts instructor with extensive private instructor experience through organizations like the Boys and Girls Club.
Jason Fay: A Music teacher in his first year at Grand Canyon Prep, Mr. Fay has extensive experience as a private Music instructor through organizations like La Musique and The Bandstand. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Arizona State University.
Robert Slusser: A person with extensive experience as an entrepreneur, Mr. Slusser holds a Masters in Business Administration and is certified in Mathematics and Highly qualified in Social Studies. He teaches Math, Social Studies, and Career Pathways for us and has had experience as a college instructor.
Jeffrey Virgin: A third year teacher, Mr. Virgin teaches English at Grand Canyon Prep. He has a Masters in Secondary Education and Curriculum from the University of Phoenix.

Grand Canyon Prep
