Announcements and Assignments for Wednesday, October 4

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We trust every one is having a very positive experience with us as we celebrate our tenth anniversary. To help commemorate this great event, we are launching a fundraising raffle that will help fund school programs like our trip to Italy through EF Tours and invest in a mobile computer lab. First Prize of this raffle will be a 2006 Toyota Hybrid Prius (or $20,000). Second prize is a trip for two to Australia (or 10,000). The third major prize is a three thousand-dollar gift certificate to any Westcor Mall. Each ticket will cost $50.00 or you may purchase three for $100.00. The maximum number of tickets sold will be 5,000. Please tell your friends and other family members about this great opportunity, as this is a tremendous way to help your school support the great programs you value so much, as well as a chance to win some great prizes. Enclosed is a flyer and the rules for the raffle. You may purchase the tickets online at our web site at http://www.grandcanyonprep.com/ or call us at 480 233 3622. We hope to hear from you soon.

Quarterly examinations will take place on Friday. PLEASE REMEMBER TO STUDY.

PSAT tests for juniors will be held the week we get back from Fall Break. Students taking the test should take advantage of the after school tutoring opportunities provided by Miss Foy.

Fall AIMS tests for sophomores, juniors, and seniors will start on Halloween (which is already a half day). Our annual costume and Halloween contest is also scheduled for that day.

Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright will be speaking at Changing Hands Bookstore on Saturday October 7 at 1:00 p.m. I encourage all our students to attend. I am requiring it of the Public Policy students.

Several of our students from the Holocaust/Genocide class from last year received letters of appreciation from Representative Hayworth for their requests for action in the tragedy of Darfur. Activities like these show students that their views matter and they can help make a difference.
