Announcements and Assignments for Wednesday

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope everyone is well and had a good weekend.

Please remember that permission slips and fees for the Renaissance Festival on February 1, 2007.

Please remember that we have a parent meeting scheduled for Wednesday for 6:30 p.m. We will be talking about fundraising and next year. There will be Baked Rigatoni as we are raising funds for school events.

We are happy to announce that some Grand Canyon students will be touring the Rembrandt exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum in March. More information to follow. We are also planning a trip to the Body Works exhibit at the Arizona Science Center.

Please start bringing Pennies as we are raising funds to combat Leukemia.

Juniors and Seniors have an opportunity to help build a house for a family in Tempe through the Habitat for Humanity organization. The event is on March 10 and we hope all juniors and seniors attend.

Service Learning Opportunities

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have an opportunity to help a family in need through the Habitat for Humanity organization in March. We will be approaching grades 10-12 students in this regard over the next couple of days.

We will launch a Pennies for Dollar drive tomorrow to raise money to combat Leukemia. Please help out and bring pennies. There will be a contest between the grade levels.

Announcments and Assignments for Wednesday

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope you are all well.

Permission Slips for the Renaissance Festival have been distributed. The Permission Slips and Checks are due by February 1, 2007.

This week is Spirit Week. People who have paid towards the event may participate. Monday is Pajama Day. Tuesday is Crazy Sock Day, Wednesday is Crazy Hair Day, Thursday is Sports Team Day, and Friday is Everything Day. There will also be a Spirit Dance on Friday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m.

Miss Foy is tutoring students on the AIMS test on Tuesday and Thursday and students for SAT on Wednesday. Mr. Harmon will also provide tutoring opportunities. Please advise if you are interested.

Howard Lanus, Angela Spadafino, and Sarah Peterson received book store certificates for being the top three on the honor roll this first semester. The other honor roll students will receive their awards before spring break.

Announements for Wednesday January 17

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The students and chaperone's enjoyed Romeo and Juliet today. We want to give special thanks to Mrs. Deal, Mrs. Spadafino, and Father Dave for serving as chaperone's.

Our next field trip will be on February 15 to the Renaissance Festival. The cost for be $12.00 (Eight dollars for a ticket plus four dollars for bus fare). Students must bring their own money for food and any souvenirs they wish to purchase. We will be leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning between 2:00 and 2:30. Chaperone's are needed.

We are also planning field trips to the Science Center for the Body Works exhibit, The Phoenix Art Center for the Rembrandt exhibit, and the Mesa Arts Center for a performance of Cyrano De Berjarec.

We hope all the students will take advantage of these opportunities and attend. They are to be in school uniform for all these events.

Announcements and Assignments for January 16

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to invite you to our first School Community Meeting for the 2006/07 school year on January 31, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.. It is very important that all parents attend. We will discuss student recruitment, fundraising, and the school vision for next year.

We feel that all parents are part of our school community and your opinions and ideas are what make our school and its programs the success that it is.

RigaTony’s Restaurant is providing a catered meal of baked rigatoni , bread, and salad. They are charging us $5.00 per plate, so any amount that you donate above that will go to benefit school activities.

We hope you all can make it.

33 students are going to see Romeo and Juliet tomorrow at the new Mesa Arts Center. There will be five adult chaperones comprised of two teachers and three parent/guardians.

SEMESTER REPORT CARDS ARE OUT. PLEASE CALL US IF THERE ARE ANY QUESTIONS. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL 24 STUDENTS WHO MADE THE FIRST SEMESTER HONOR ROLL. THE TOP THREE STUDENTS WERE HOWARD LANUS, ANGELA SPADAFINO, AND SARAH PETERSON. STUDENTS THAT ARE STILL ELIGIBLE FOR A LAB TOP COMPUTER IF THEY COME BACK NEXT YEAR ARE SARAH PETERSON, ARRUMAISHA (SARAH) SUBIYANTORO, ETHAN MCKENZIE, DONALD ARBGAST, DANIEL GLAWSON, SHANE PALMER, DYLAN ARBAST, MEAGAN DELANDER, THOMAS COOK, JOHN GIOVANETTI, MICHAEL GIOVANETTI, ROSIE VIRGIN, AND SHANE CAVANAGH. JUST TWO MORE QUARTERS TO GO.

Please remember that tomorrow is a half day and we are off on Monday for Martin Luther King Day.

We have had a couple of incidents of items belonging to students that have gone missing. Theft is a very serious offense that if is grounds for expulsion at our school. Please take a moment to advise your child to keep items that are not related to school at home, to put identifying marks (like their name) on all others, and to immediately report any missing item to the office. Please advise if there are any questions on this matter.

Welcome Back

We wanted to welcome every one back as we open our second semester on January 8. We hope every one had a great winter break.

As you know, Mrs. Whitman and Mr. Smith will not be with us this next semester. Sixth and Seventh Grade Students will have Miss Foy first hour, Mrs. Wright second hour, Mr. Lowther third hour and Mr. Gordon fourth hour.
