We hope everyone has a great Halloween as the holidays are now upon us.

Kristi Quiroz won the costume contest this year as Catwoman and will receive a thirty dollar gift certificate to Best Buy.

Elizabeth Doty and Chaz Pina (a witch and SWAT commando) were the second and third place winners and will receive a fifteen dollar certificate to Best Buy.

Mrs. Houstons Algebra 1 make up work. ALL OF HER STUDENTS NEED TO BRING IN THEIR TEXTBOOKS.

WORLD HISTORY KIDS NEED TO BRING IN CURRENT EVENTS.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope every one is well.

It is not too late to help out your school by donating dollars for a tax credit. Married families may donate up to $300 and single households may donate up to $250. It is a tremendous way to help out your school.

We are also looking for donated educational books, videos and dvds like history, government, science, and English literature/ humanities. We can give you a receipt for a federal tax donation for this or any equipment that the school needs and will make use of.

HALLOWEEN DANCE ON OCTOBER 28 FROM 7 TO 9.

REMEMBER OCTOBER 31 IS A HALF DAY AND WE HAVE A COSTUME CONTEST. WE HOPE EVERY ONE WILL PARTICIPATE.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

FIRST QUARTER REPORT CARDS ARE OUT. THE NEW HONOR ROLL HAS BEEN POSTED TO THE BLOG SITE . CONGRADULATIONS TO ANGELA SPADAFINO, AMBER WINSCOM, AND HOWARD LANUS FOR LEADING THE WAY. TEN STUDENTS ARE ONE QUARTER OF THE WAY THROUGH ON EARNING A LAB TOP COMPUTER.ANOTHER SIX MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS. OVERALL WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS OF THE FIRST QUARTER. PARENTS WHO HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR CHILDS' GRADES SHOULD CALL US AND WE WILL GLADLY SCHEDULE A PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE.

There is Math homework in Mr.B's and Mrs. Houstons Math classes.

Current events are due in all of the World History classes.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

REPORT CARDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED ON MONDAY. ALL THE GRADES SAVE THREE CLASSES HAVE BEEN INPUT AND THEY WILL BE HANDED OUT AT THE END OF THE DAY ON MONDAY.

Both World History III and V have writing assignments to complete. World History III has a paragraph assignment based on the reading today (What are three reasons the writer thought it would be preferable to reconcile with Britain?)

U.S. Literature is reading Catcher in the Rye and World Lit V is reading 1984

Announcements for October 18, 2005

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hope everyone is well.

We want to recognize Angela Spadafino, Nichole Van Enwyck, Amber Winscom, Brent Davila, and Howard Lanus for taking the opportunity to enroll in Dual Credit courses for next semester through Mesa Community College. Angela and Nichole will be taking English 101. Amber will be enrolling in Introduction to Business. Brent is taking Biology 182 and Howard is taking Eastern Civilizations or Political Ideologies. We wish them luck next semester.

The Public Policy class is considering future projects to serve the community but is still collecting food for the annual Thanksgiving Drive and Gifts/Stuffed Animals for the Holidays. Please help.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope every one is well.

Congratulations to Tim Goodrich on winning the first ever Perfect Attendance Drawing. For those students who have perfect attendance from the 15th to 15th of every month, there will be a drawing for those students for a $50 reward.

Current Events for all History classes are due on Wednesday.
Students in World History III and II have to finish their writing assignments. World History III had students analyzing the Declaration of Independence and how the Colonists found three ways the British broke their social contract with the colonies. World History IV had students answer to what extent did Churchill call for collective security against the Soviets in his Iron Curtain speech.

Miss Foy wants students to bring in all makeup work.

Hope every one is well.

WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE STATE OF ARIZONA HAS LABELED OUR SCHOOL AS A PERFORMING PLUS SCHOOL. GREAT JOB TO OUR STAFF, STUDENTS, AND FAMILIES. WE MUST NOW STRIVE TO BE AN EXCELLING SCHOOL. I KNOW WE CAN DO IT. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF GRAND CANYON PREP

First Quarter Report Cards are tenatively scheduled to come out next Friday. All teachers are in the process of giving exams and receiving make up work. Do not forget.

Good luck to Cory Milford and Nichole Van Enwyck as they take the PSATs tomorrow.

The Public Policy class successfully filmed a commercial designed to help reduce drop out rates. We wish to acknowledge the great efforts of Al Gable, Kristi Quiroz, Amber Winscom, Lizzie Barnes, Joseph Spadafino, Patrice Rancifer, Nichole Van Enwyck, Josh Van Enwyck, and Nathan Hatch. Great job class.

Pictures have been changed to November 1.

Announcements for October 8, 2005

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope everyone has a great Columbus Day weekend. Please remember that school will resume on Tuesday October 11.

The school is sponsoring a food and gift drive for impoverished children. Please help.

The school is expanding its library selection and would like your assistance. We are in need of History, Government, Literature, and Science books. We are also in need of VHS tapes and DVDS in those same areas. We will be able to credit the donated items as tax credits for next year.

It is not too late to donate money to the school and receive a tax credit. Married couples may donate up to $300 and single families may donate up to $250. Please help out your school.

The Public Policy class is sponsoring a leadership training trip to Prescott on November 9, 10, and 11. November 9 is now a half day. Permission slips will be going out to selected students on Tuesday. We will need registration materials by October 20.

The Public Policy class is also filiming a commercial this week on preventing the rate of school drop outs. We would like your assistance and kindly ask that each family donate $20 towards the production costs.

On Tuesday, October 11, we will be taking selected students to Mesa Community College to preregister for their Dual Credit classes.

Miss Foy has passed out brochures for School Pictures.

The school will be taking its first field trip to the Heard Museum on 10/20.

Quarterly examinations are this coming school week. The end of the quarter is on Friday October 14.

Announcements and Assignments for 10/5/05

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please remember that 10/7 is a half day with periods three and four meeting. Afterwards there is a Site Based Council meeting that will focus only on curriculum and district assessments. After that is a brief governing board meeting where we will consider the Annual Financial Report for the 2004/05 school year.

Quarterly Examinations will be given in the Foreign Language classes on Thursday October 13 and the other core classes on October 14.

Prospective Hiking Club members will be meeting after school at 2:30pm.

PSAT will be held on 10/15

Announcements and Assignments for October 3, 2005

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope every one had a great weekend.

Thank you to the Student Council for arranging the Ralphs Snack Bar. It looks like it will be a great success.

We have spoken with most of the students who are eligible for dual credit about looking into the class that they want to take next semester. Eligible students may take one class. Spring semester schedules are now available for Mesa Community College.

After the half day on Friday, there is a Site Based Council Meeting which will soley focus on the school curriculum and district assessments. This will be followed by a quick board meeting where we will approve the expenses from last year and last years Annual Financial Report.

Please do not forget that there are still opportunities to make a tax credit donation to the school. Married Families may donate up to$250 while single families may donate up to $200.

There will be quarterly examinations in all core subject matter and foreign language classes on Thursday, October 13 and Friday October 14.
