Final Schedule and High School Math AIMS scores

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope you are all well.

This is the schedule for final examinations on Thursday and Friday. UNIFORMS ARE TO BE WORN TOMORROW. CASUAL ON FRIDAY.

End of the Year Ceremonies on Friday at 4:00 p.m.

We are happy to report that the following students have passed the AIMS Mathematics exam. Leading the pack is Tim Goodrich with an exceeds score of 758.He is followed by Michael Giovanetti and Collin Reeves who received scores of 745. They are followed by Donald Arbgast, Cody Milford, Josh Crowley, Joseph Spadafino, and Kaycee Spiller. Congratulations to all of these students as Grand Canyon Prep made improvements in both its writing and mathematics scores from last year. Grand Canyon Preps scores surpassed the charter school average for the whole state in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Congratulations to our teachers, who have worked hard all year in giving our students quality instruction.

Announcments and Assignments for Friday/Wednesday

We hope every one is well.

Grand Canyon is pleased to announce that it appears that it will be offering Dance and Karate as electives for next year.

Please remember that Friday is a half day.

Please remember that Monday is a Memorial Day Holiday. School will be closed.

Please remember that next Thursday is a 3/4 day with Foreign Language, Science, and Math Final examinations.

Please remember that next Friday is a 1/2 day with Social Studies and English as final examinations.

The end of the year/graduation ceremonies for grade eight and twelve students will be at 4:00 p.m. on June 1. State Senator John Huppenthal will be the guest speaker.

Announcements and Assignments for Thursday and Friday

Dear Parents and Guardians

We hope you are all well.

At the Governing Board Meeting last Friday, it was decided at the suggestion of Mr. Harmon and unanimously approved by the other members that the 2007/08 school year will end on May 30 instead of June 4.

We are holding open houses for new students on Saturday May 19 and June 2. Please invite people who you know will benefit from our program.

Special Days to mark on your calendar:
Friday May 25: Periods three and four: Half Day
Monday May 28: Memorial Day No School
Tuesday May 29: Last full day for B Day classes: Finals in electives if necessary except for Foreign Language.
Wednesday May 30: Last full Day for A Day core classes.
Thursday May 31: Final exams for Foreign Language, Science, and Mathematics: School is released at 1:00 p.m.
Friday June 1: Final examinations for English and History: Students will be released at 11:00 a.m. End of the year ceremony where awards, certificates of achievement for grade eight students, and high school diplomas will be issued. State Senator John Huppenthal will give the Commencement Address.

We are pleased to announce that Grand Canyon Prep is looking for students who want to become part of our first athletic program: Swimming which will be coordinated with the YMCA. Please let us know if any one is interested in joining the team.

New Uniform shirts are in and ready to preview. Please stop by the office and see as we will start selling them to parents this week.

We are very excited that it is only 25 days until we inaugurate our overseas program with a trip to Italy on June 11. The students that are attending are Gabrielle Ritter, Kaycee Spiller, Jared Haden, and Howard Lanus. We are also planning a trip to Japan for the spring. We feel that in this day and age students need to expose themselves to the world instead of just reading about them in books.

Grand Canyon is pleased to announce that State Senator John Huppenthal will give the Commencement Address at our graduation on June 1, 2007 at 4:00 p.m..

Grand Canyon is pleased to announce that it has concluded an arrangement with Thomas Pappas School where Grand Canyon Prep students will be performing service learning activities for the children in need at that school for the 2007/08 school year.

P.E. will be held at the school for the remainder of the year so we can fulfill our grant obligations to Maricopa County for our Tobacco Prevention Program we are enrolled in.
