Announcements and Assignments for Thursday and Friday
Dear Parents and Guardians
We hope you are all well.
At the Governing Board Meeting last Friday, it was decided at the suggestion of Mr. Harmon and unanimously approved by the other members that the 2007/08 school year will end on May 30 instead of June 4.
We are holding open houses for new students on Saturday May 19 and June 2. Please invite people who you know will benefit from our program.
Special Days to mark on your calendar:
Friday May 25: Periods three and four: Half Day
Monday May 28: Memorial Day No School
Tuesday May 29: Last full day for B Day classes: Finals in electives if necessary except for Foreign Language.
Wednesday May 30: Last full Day for A Day core classes.
Thursday May 31: Final exams for Foreign Language, Science, and Mathematics: School is released at 1:00 p.m.
Friday June 1: Final examinations for English and History: Students will be released at 11:00 a.m. End of the year ceremony where awards, certificates of achievement for grade eight students, and high school diplomas will be issued. State Senator John Huppenthal will give the Commencement Address.
We are pleased to announce that Grand Canyon Prep is looking for students who want to become part of our first athletic program: Swimming which will be coordinated with the YMCA. Please let us know if any one is interested in joining the team.
New Uniform shirts are in and ready to preview. Please stop by the office and see as we will start selling them to parents this week.
We are very excited that it is only 25 days until we inaugurate our overseas program with a trip to Italy on June 11. The students that are attending are Gabrielle Ritter, Kaycee Spiller, Jared Haden, and Howard Lanus. We are also planning a trip to Japan for the spring. We feel that in this day and age students need to expose themselves to the world instead of just reading about them in books.
