Announcements and Assignements for Tuesday

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope you are all well.

Please remember that tomorrow is a half day and that class will end at 11:00 a.m. We are closed on Monday for Labor Day.

The Public Policy class is collecting food, clothing, and hygiene items for the children at Children's First Academy (formerly Thomas Pappas Academy). Please bring items in by the beginning of school on Wednesday.

We received an excellent response to the extracurricular questionnaires and students will be notified next week of the first meeting of their clubs. The clubs that have generated the most favorable responses are Yoga, Chess, and Hiking. There was also considerable response for Drama, Robotics, Student Council, and Odyssey of the Mind.

For families with students in grades six through ten, please review and sign their weekly planners before they turn in next Tuesday.

The first below 70 and 90 or above calls will take place on September 3. Students will also meet with their advisers for the first time in the next week to ten days.

EXTRACURRICULAR QUESTION ARIES ARE DUE TOMORROW. PLEASE FILL THEM OUT.

Last nights Curriculum night was a tremendous success. We want to thank every one who could attend and hope that those who could not will join us at our next community event. We want to thank Mrs. Nichol and Mr. Brimacombe for their ideas on Odyssey of the Mind and Robotics which we will be pursuing in partnership with the Engineering Robotics Division of Arizona State University.

We encourage every one to participate in nominating a teacher for The Silver Apple Award for outstanding teachers. Sponsored by Channel Three, nominations will be due by March 2, 2009. Please contact Mr. Gordon if you have any questions regarding this great program.

Please remember that Friday is a half day with periods one and two meeting and we are closed for Labor Day on Monday.

WELCOME TO THE 2008/09 SCHOOL YEAR

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2008/09 School Year.

We hope you and your child have an enjoyable year at Grand Canyon Prep. Please remember that our door is always open to you.

For students in grades six through ten: Please remember to check your child's' daily planner. It is important for us to get off on the right foot as they develop their organization skills.

Sci Fi Movie club will meet Monday Wednesday and Friday this week. Among the features this week are The Lord of the Rings (Will start on Wednesday in Room Six). Today will feature Amazing Stories. Semester Club Membership is $25.00.

Please remember that Comic Book Design will start in room three tomorrow with Ms. Eros at 2:35 p.m.

Questionnaires will be sent to students on Wednesday advising them of the extracurricular options at the school.

There are still openings in grades six through nine. Please tell a friend about us and earn up to $300 in referrals if the student qualifies.

Please consult the August event calendar on our web site for the events that will occur this month. This events include Picture Day on August 25 and Curriculum night on August 26.
